Last Saturday I planted lettuce and radish together.

little ones are radish.

I was only took in three days for the seeds to sprout.

先週の土曜日にレタスの苗とラディッシュの種を一緒に植えてみました。

小さな貝割れのような方がラディッシュです。

3日目で発芽しました。

ラディシュは3週間ほどで収穫できるそうです。

パセリとレタス

After I bought the lettuce I learned that each of them has to be 30cm apart

so I put two into this planter along with Italian parsley.

I put the planter into the "drying area" - used to hang washing,

because it is a bit cooler than the main part of the balcony because I read that lettuce grows better in cooler place.

I'm looking forward to the harvest.

買って来て気が付いたのですが、レタスは30ｃｍぐらい株間がいるので、

2つのプランターで育てることにしました。

こっちは、バルコニーの隣の洗濯干し場で日景が長く涼しい場所です。

レタスは涼しい場所を好むそうですから、

こっちのレタスの方が良く育つかもしれません。

楽しみ！！

Shiso and rosemary

紫蘇とローズマリー

I got this shiso a few months ago from Aya.

When I first got them I took too many leaves and

they were very weak and sickly looking but they look O.K. now - Good!

Because it is hard to find shiso in a normal supermarket.

数ヶ月前に友達のあやちゃんに貰ったしその葉です。

葉を摘みすぎでちょっと育ちが悪くなっていたのですが、また最近復活してきました。

良かった！！

　しそは普通のスーパーには売ってないので、貴重な苗です。

　

My first bonsai - Bonbon

私の最初の盆栽 - ボンボン

Tomorrow will be one year since I bought my bonsai plant that I named "Bonbon"

It was planted in 2005.

It is a Port Jackson Fig which is native to this part of Australia.

I grow more and more fond of bonbon every day.

My late uncle Kazutomo kept many bonsai at his house and

sometimes when I see Bonbon I am reminded of him.

うちに来て明日でちょうど1年、盆栽の”ボンボン”です。

2005年生まれのポートジャクソンフィグ

ポートジャジャクソンフィグはオーストラリアのネイテイブの木です。

1年間毎日見ていると、愛着がわいてきますね。

ボンボンを見ると時々亡くなった叔父の和友おじちゃんが

庭いっぱい盆栽を育てていたのを思い出します。

Friday night in Lane Cove

金曜日の夜のレインコーブ

Last nignt in Lane Cove Plaza we had celebration for Chinese New Year.

Children really enjoyed the taiko.

レインコーブプラザで、チャイニーズニーイヤーのイベントが行われてました。

Cockatoos

コカトゥー(白色オウム）

It is not unusual to see Cockatoos every day in Lane Cove,

but I haven't see one close at the balcony for a long time.

They came two days in a row.

I was able to take pictures very close to them but they are not afraid of me.

Yellow cheeks are pretty that make them look cheeky.

　Lane Coveでは毎日、コカトゥーを見ることは珍しいことではありませんが、

バルコニーに飛んで来て、こんなに近くで見たのは久しぶりです。

それも2日も続けて。

手が届く所まで近づいたのに、怖がりもせずに

かなり近くで写真を撮る事が出来ました。

黄色いほっぺがちょっとお茶目な感じでかわいいです。
